Loot

Trial and Error does loot distribution via loot council. This loot council consists of three guild members of raider rank or higher and containing (in general) one melee DPS, one ranged DPS, and a healer. One or two officers will be assigned to administer this group as well as distribute loot. If no consensus can be reached within this group, the officer's job is to make the final decision on who the loot is distributed to.

The general term of someone on the loot council is 6 weeks. One of the members is rotated out every two weeks, so there is some consistency within the group. i.e. 2 weeks learning, and 4 weeks with experience. Note that being new does not lessen their opinion, but it is not expected that a new member will know who has gotten loot for the last three weeks.

Currently this is how we do things (or at least try to):

when a piece of loot drops we ask for those interested, then based on the following not-so-scientific formula we determine who should get it

  1. eliminate recruits from consideration unless only recruits want the item

  2. if the item is highly sought after and both members as well as raiders want it, then eliminate members from consideration unless there is a compelling reason for that member to be left in (for example a weapon that is bis for dps but a raider healer wants it over a dps member, more than likely we dont give to raider automatically).

  3. if the item is an equivelent upgrade for all those interested filter out anyone below raider from consideration

  4. if the item is a tier piece try to evenly spread out tier pieces as best we can, the ideal situation is to give one to a dps, one to a tank and one to a healer since 3 drop on 25 man. This does not always work out since we cannot gaurantee which tokens will drop or who hasnt gotten stuff in a while etc but it is a good goal in any case.

  5. if we still don't know who should get it we then try and weight who is the best fit for the item from the following reasons: Seniority, effectiveness of the item to the individuals class/role, how long it has been since each person interested has gotten something of comparable value, how long it has been since each interested person has gotten anything at all. From this we usually decide, occasionally we ask for feedback on an item before handing it out too. Also some items may bypass a lot of these "rules
entirely simply because we havnt gotten so many of them or we wont ever get a lot of them (legendaries for example)

Guild Ranks

Guild ranks are divided by both priveleges and expectations. This post will outline the differences.

All Ranks
All ranks that wish to attend raids must conform to these simple rules:

  • All gear enchanted with appropriate enchants

  • All gem slots gemmed with appropriate gems

  • Must have ventrillo installed to listen

  • Must alert raid leader or another officer if you need to afk. We take regular breaks and as such everyone is expected to hold off on unneccessary breaks until our official afk break during the raid

Raider
So you want to be a raider? Well in addition to the glory of being among the elite this list summarizes what is expected of our raiders:

  • Raiders have consistent attendance, they are almost always available when we need them.

  • Raiders have two raiding professions. Raiders want to win and every last point counts for first kills.

  • Raiders have two viable raiding specs or are willing to respec immediately if the raid requires it. This includes making changes to single talents and glyphs to suit the fight.

  • Raiders will always min/max for every last ounce of power attainable.

  • Raiders are able to play multiple roles if necessary. For example, a plate DPS raider will gladly accept offspec tanking gear and know how to put it to use.

As a raider, you will enjoy these outstanding benefits

  • Free repairs every day of the week up to a certain limit (while reasonably sustainable)

  • Free flasks during raids (while reasonably sustainable)

  • Priority on loot when all else is equal

  • Priority on raid spots whenever possible

  • Priority on novelty items such as mounts or pets based on EPGP. See loot addendum at the end.

  • Raiders can ask an officer for monetary assistance (3000g) in changing their professions with the following restrictions:

    • Professions may only be changed only once every 2 months

    • Assistance will only be given leveling a crafting profession which is best for your class and spec

Member
You love raiding, just maybe not as much as those raiders! This is what is expected of the Member rank

  • Consistent attendance, life happens but we still expect our members to be dependable

  • Members have at least one raid viable profession

  • Members must be willing to respec if they can play another role that is needed by the raid

As a member you will enjoy these benefits:

  • Free repairs during raids (while reasonably sustainable)

  • Free flasks during raids (while reasonably sustainable)

  • Priority on loot over recruits

  • Priority on raid spots over recruits whenever possible

  • Members can ask an officer for monetary assistance (3000g) in changing their professions with the following restrictions:

    • Professions may only be changed only once every 2 months

    • Assistance will only be given leveling a crafting profession which is best for your class and spec
